Jeff Lisandro is a name that is well known to anyone familiar with the world of poker. Lisandro is a popular Australian pro poker player, currently residing in Italy. An interesting fact about Lisandro and poker is that it is actually his mother that taught him how to play. She taught him to play poker when he was just five years old. This means that he has had years of practice when it comes to poker, and all of that hard work and dedication has more than paid off for him.
Lisandro has made a reputation for himself and is commonly referred to as a cash game specialist. He is also a familiar face on the poker tournament circuit. He is known for being one of the greatest seven card stud poker players throughout the world. At the 2009 WSOP he won a title in Stud High-Low, Stud High, and Razz. This made him the first person to win a title in all three of the disciplines in the same year. This was quite a feat for one player to accomplish.
It was 1997 when Lisandro made his first appearance at the final table in a WSOP. Since that time, he has won himself four bracelets and a great reputation amongst poker players worldwide. He won the first bracelet in 2007 after taking down the $1,500 seven-card stud event. As of the year 2009, Lisandro has earned a total of more than 4 million dollars in live tournament wins. He also won the WSOP Poker player of the Year award in 2009. This is quite an honor for a poker player to receive.
Although he has four WSOP bracelets, for many, Lisandro is well known for an incident that happened at the 2006 World Series of Poker. During the event, fellow poker pro Prahlad Friedman accused Lisandro of not anteing and subsequently accused him of stealing. He thought that another player had anted twice. Lisandro took offence to this an threatened to “knock his block off.” Cooler heads prevailed, and it was later revealed that Lisandro had indeed anted. Friedman never apologized for his insult, prompting fellow pro Todd Brunson to state in a future Cardplayer Magazine article that he would have knocked Friedman’s block off.
If you are wondering what Lisandro likes to do in his spare time, the answer is poker. He can be found playing online poker at the very popular and highly respected online poker site, PokerStars. Playing online poker is something that a lot of poker players do in their spare time. Some of them do it to pass time playing a game they love, and others do it to keep their game sharp. No matter why Lisandro chooses to do it, he is amongst a great group of players at PokerStars.
Some common trivia about Lisandro is that he is also known to chew gum while he is at the table. It is said that he does this as a way of reducing tells. He also owns some property in Santa Barbara, California. He is also known for coming off a bit cold and calculating while he is at the table, this fact has earned him the nickname of the Iceman. Before he became a full time poker player, he was actually a real estate investor. He has lived in a total of three different countries. These countries include Australia (his birthplace), Italy, and the United States of America. If there is one poker player to keep your eye on, it would be Lisandro. He has made quite the reputation for himself and he continues to show the poker world how he got that reputation and that he is more than able to live up to it.
