Peter Eastgate is a very well known and highly respected poker player. He is originally from Denmark and he has cam a long way in poker, especially when you consider how young he is. Peter Eastgate was first introduced to the game of poker from his classmates when he attended school at the Sct. Canute’s Gymnasium. Eastgate went on to study finance, but later dropped out in order to pursue poker as a full time career. For most people, dropping out of college in order to pursue a career in poker may not be a very good decision. However, for Peter Eastgate it would seem as though this was the right decision for him and one that would lead him down a path of victories.
Peter Eastgate has sure come a long way in his poker career. His biggest win came at the 2009 WSOP Main Event. Heading into the final table, he faced two daunting tasks. First, Dennis Phillips was the chip leader heading into the final table. Also, Ivan Demidov had become the first player in WSOP history to make the final table of both the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas and the WSOP Europe Main Event. Phillips would eventually finish in 3rd, leaving Demidov and Eastgate heads-up.
The heads-up battle between the two lasted for over five hours with both players holding the chip lead. Eventually, Eastgate went on to become the winner of the 2009 WSOP. At the age of just 22 years old, Eastgate became the youngest poker player to win the WSOP. He broke the then 20 year old record set by Phil Hellmuth. Since then the title of youngest player ever to win has been handed to Joe Cada. Peter Eastgate was a somewhat unfamiliar face to the live poker world at the time of his 2009 win, not many people knew of him and this made his win all that much more impressive. He brings a fearless way of playing to the table that is quite impressive. His fearless attitude helps him to play a bold and strong game that other players should be aware of. Eastgate has the potential to take over and stay on top, this is one thing he has already proven to the poker world.
Peter Eastgate came as a bit of a surprise to many poker pros and he came as a bit of fresh air, proving that you don’t have to be well known in the poker world in order to have a shot at winning the WSOP. He serves as an inspiration to any young players out there that may be feeling a bit intimidated by the big names. However, it is important to understand that even though he wasn’t well known, he was still a professional poker pro and he has the playing skills and ability to prove it. By walking away with the WSOP title, Eastgate has shown that he has what it takes to not only play against the best of the best, but also to win.
Peter Eastgate is quite well known to the online poker community. He can usually be found playing poker online under the username of “Isser”. Like many other poker players of today, Eastgate spends quite a bit of time on the internet taking advantage of the ability to play poker when the feeling strikes.
